The Haunting of Hill House Review

The Haunting of Hill House is a modern reimagining of the Shirley Jackson novel dubbed the same name. It’s about siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to be the most famous haunted house in the country. Now as adults, they are forced back together and must finally confront the ghosts of their past. The first episode, directed by Mike Flanagan, came out on October 12, 2018 and was released on the streaming platform Netflix. The Haunting of Hill House has gotten great reviews online and is climbing the charts in the most liked original series from Netflix So far, there is only one season and ten episodes available on Netflix. If you’re looking for a good scare, The Haunting of Hill House is a show that will leave you trembling in fear.

           The Haunting of Hill House includes ghosts, many jump scares, and paranormal activity in every episode. However, it also includes a great story line and interesting connections between the characters. Though, t is rated TV-MA, and is not recommended for younger children. The plot of the show includes 5 kids growing up in Hill House, which they find later is haunted. They grow up and have new lives outside of Hill House, but find themselves in a scary situation after Steven gets a call from Nell. Nell explains to Steven that she thinks there is something wrong with her twin brother Luke. Steven doesn’t worry much about it until one day he gets a call from his dad explaining that Nell, his sister, is on her way to Steven’s house. When Nell doesn’t arrive, Steven calls his dad. His dad explains to Steven that Nell actually went to the Hill House where she ended up killing herself. Steven hangs up the phone when he turns and sees Nell standing in his living room. However, it wasn’t the real Nell he was seeing.

            This new show is thrilling and will sends chills down your spin with every episode. The plot is also very intriguing and will always leave you wanting to watch more. If you don’t enjoy having a good jump scare every now and then, then this isn’t the show for you. But if you do enjoy a good jump scare, then I definitely suggest watching The Haunting of Hill House. If you want to hear more about what happens in this thrilling series, then you’ll have to watch for yourself! Overall rating is four out of five stars.
