Senior Spotlight: Kayla Massey

Ariana Dockey, Staffer

“When people ask me how I feel being a senior, I tell them the truth. I am scared because I have to look at colleges and I need to start planning my future,” says Kayla Massey. She has dreamed of being a senior since her freshman year of high school. She knew she wanted to be a senior when she saw how much easier it would all become once she became a senior. But, when she started her year she realized it wasn’t as easy as she thought. “Some years are stressful and some years didn’t go as planned like freshman year I moved then I moved again at the end of my sophomore year, but it’s been pretty great. It’s being more real and real as I go on,” says Massey.

‘’I want to be able to do what other adults do after high school, but I want to find something that I can take an interest in to be happy with my decision,” says Massey. She has not applied to any colleges yet because she is thinking about taking a year off to decide what she truly wants to do with her future. Although she is thinking about going into the medical field, she doesn’t know what branch of the medical field she wants to join. Instead of going to a college hours away she wants to stay local so she can be close to her friends and family.

“The reason I want to become a nurse is because I want to devote my time into helping people in need and to learn anything I need to know when I am helping someone who is seriously injured. My stepmom is a nursing assistant and hearing about how she does her job made me want to become a nurse more than I really wanted too,” states Massey. Kayla may not have her future planned out completely but she does know how she feels about her future and what she has to do to be happy with her future.
