Is Snapchat or Instagram better? Snapchat was released in July of 2011 and boasts an impressive 187 million daily users. Instagram was released in August of 2010 with 400 million daily users. Even though Instagram has three times as many users as Snapchat, the younger demographic still prefers customizable but short-lived snaps.

Snapchat is a multimedia messaging app used globally, created by former students at Stanford University Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown and developed by Snap Inc. Instagram is an American photo and video-sharing social networking service owned by Facebook, Inc. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Both Snapchat and Instagram are free and available in the Apple App Store and Google Play store.

In my personal preference, I would choose Snapchat over Instagram because it is just easier overall. On Snapchat you can send a video to one person, two people, or however many people you want. Unless you direct message someone on Instagram, you cannot send the video to one person. Also, a cool feature with Snapchat is that you can start a streak with a person of your choosing, Instagram doesn’t offer this option. A Snapchat streak is when you send direct snaps back and forth with a friend for several consecutive days. Snapchat also allows you to have a private story which you can choose who sees it. There are many different opinions concerning which app is better, but I prefer Snapchat.
