New Jersey is home to the town of Ocean City. Ocean City is home to a number of attractions and locations that brings thousands to the town every summer. With great places to eat, fun things to do and great sights to see, there is always something for you to do. It’s even a great place to take the family as it is extremely family friendly!

Ocean City was founded in 1879 by four Methodist ministers (History of Ocean City). They formed the Ocean City Association and built streets and sold commercial and residential lots. Ocean City stays true to its Christian roots, even having a Tabernacle which was built back in 1879 and still stands.

Ocean City has two amusement parks — Gillian’s Wonderland Pier and Playland’s Castaway Cove. Each has its own attractions to offer, such as Gillian’s Giant Wheel and Castaway Cove’s signature roller coasters. The Giant Wheel lights at night are beautiful and Castaway Cove has fast and scary steel roller coasters. Both amusement parks even have their own indoor arcades! Ocean City also offers a number of places to eat and get a quick snack. It of course has signature coffeehouses, Dunkin and Starbucks, as well as your typical McDonald’s. As for more local cuisine, Piccini’s Wood Fired Brick Oven Pizza is a local place for quick service and Italian food. It was even featured on the Food Network’s Diners, Drive Ins and Dives! As for snacks, Ocean City is home to Johnson’s Popcorn and Crazy Susan’s Cookie Company. A frequent visitor, Kalynna Steely, says, “It is a lot of fun. There is always something to do and playing sports there is enjoyable.” Another frequent visitor, Elektra Mease, said, “The boardwalk is beautiful. I would love to go again!” The family friendly aspect of the town is the big seller for many tourists.
