Homecoming traditions have changed dramatically. Vicki Moyer, Class of 1971, was nominated her senior year. “The football players would choose one or two girls from ninth through twelfth grades. We had to sell items and canvas the town for donations. The queen was the girl who had collect the most money. I did not enjoy canvasing the town for money.” Sydney’s mom, Jenifer Moyer, was crowned queen in 1990. When Jenifer was nominated on the court, they were chosen by the football players. Sydney and the four other nominees were chosen by a poll given to the whole student body.

The five queen nominees chose numbers to determine the order of how they would choose the boxes. Sydney chose number five – the last pick. Sydney picked the last box off the table, her box contained the Homecoming Queen sash and her crown. “I couldn’t believe that I picked the right box.” Sydney’s grandmother, Vicki, said, “We were proud of her mother as well as Sydney! We hoped she would win!”

“Sydney was one of the best candidates for homecoming queen because she’s kind and a nice person” said Andrew Griffiths, Senior Class President.

Homecoming Queen crowning is one of the most memorable moments of Homecoming, Sydney’s mom. Jenifer, said “I’m glad Sydney was able to share in the same memorable moment.” Sydney stated,“Homecoming is a time for past and present Cardinals to come together to celebrate their Pine Grove Area pride. I was so happy I was apart of this experience for my senior year.”
