Review on “You”

Kalynna Steely, Staffer

On September 9, 2018, a new compelling tv drama was released called, “You” on Netflix. The TV show is based off of the question, “What would you do for love?” This question is really put to the test when a young, intelligent, bookstore clerk meets an aspiring, young writer. The show was well-made, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This simple crush turns into something way more obsessive when the bookstore clerk, known as Joe, becomes obsessed over the young writer. He uses social media to make assumptions and obsess over her, and even goes as far as stalking her in her home. This is all because of one meeting they had while she was looking for a book. The obsession becomes even worse when she shows interest in him, and even decides to date him. Throughout the whole show, he sneaks behind her back doing things he think will ‘help’ her but in reality, only helps his chance with her. He does all this without her knowing, getting rid of every trace of his crimes until the very end.

The TV show is very compelling and interesting to not only to the teenage audience but adults as well. It kept me on the edge of my seat through all the deaths, conflicts, and drama throughout the season. If you’re looking for a TV show to binge watch this is definitely the show for you. You won’t want to stop until you’re finished, and when you do finish, you’ll be left speechless! Overall, I would definitely recommend this show to anyone interested in watching it and hope there will be a new season in the future.
