A steaming cup of coffee.

Everyone loves a good cup of coffee to start the day off right. After doing research I found that drinking large amounts of coffee could spike your blood pressure and your heart rate thanks to caffeine’s impact on hormones and neurotransmitters. Lindsey Kemmerling says ‘’I love coffee but it messes with my anxiety.’’ Drinking coffee in moderation, 1-3 cups a day, should not have noticeable impact on any healthy adult.

Mr. Jannicelli says, ’’Coffee doesn’t affect me at all because I drink so much. Everything I see on TV that has to do with coffee gives positive effects. I love the taste of coffee in the morning.’’  When the caffeine enters your bloodstream it quickly finds its way to the brain. Keith Koppenhaver, Sr. says, ‘’ If I don’t have a cup of coffee in the morning I will get a headache.’’ According to Self.com, it takes about 6 hours to reduce the amount of caffeine in our blood by about 50 percent. The caffeine intake can also impact your pleasure centers, which improves your mood. Drinking too much coffee can have a negative impact on your mood and mental health. Coffee stimulates bowel movements and may even reduce the risk of gallstones.

The downside of drinking coffee is that drinking too much can cause insomnia. Insomnia is a sleeping disorder that is a lack of sleep or you have trouble staying asleep or falling back to sleep once you have woken up.

The caffeine can stay in your system for hours. Keith Koppenhaver, Jr. says, ‘’ I hate coffee, I think it’s disgusting, the only thing it does for you is gives you energy.’’ “At first it hypes me up and I start to get really hyper. Then when it starts to wear off my body just powers down,”  says Brianna Armstead.
