In 1927, the supposed worst school shooting ever occured in Bath Township, Michigan, due to thirty-eight elementary students being shot. This is a terrible situation. I personally don’t understand why people think it’s okay to act in this manner. If you were to ever notice a kid always talking about guns or talking about doing something like shooting up a school it should not be taken as a joke. I know if I was to hear someone say stuff like this, I would be going to the principal.

As the years go on with shootings happening all over the country, we were never really taught how to react when a situation actually happened. I look at it as- we were just meant to sit there and wait for something to happen. Now with the ALICE program, it opened my eyes to how much safer we could be.

When shootings happen, people would say that the shooter had a mental issue or something similar. Honestly, that is something that could be the reason but you also have to look at it at how it can be caused by how the person is treated through school. I notice everyday how people act towards other people all the time, and I know I do it sometimes too, but to a point people should know when to stop. The way that people treat other people is the reason why some people are driven to commit school shootings.

I really stop and think about what it would be like to get into a situation like this. After our schools first intruder drill, it had  me thinking. I honestly just wanted to break down because I didn’t know what to do. Those students that actually go through these things are scarred for life, and some students have to go through so much to save themselves. I know I wouldn’t be able to do anything if this would happen. I would freeze because I would be too afraid to do anything. I also know there would be some students that would do anything to keep themselves and others safe. With how often shootings happen in history, with new safety instructions, I hope that things like school shootings won’t happen anymore.
