The moment iPhone fans had been waiting for, the September 2019 keynote. On September 10, 2019, Apple released their new iPhones alongside other technology. Just like 2018, three phones were released this year — the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
Along with the new phones comes new technology. One of the biggest changes are the new cameras. The night mode feature is one of the biggest new additions to the iPhones. The iPhone Pro and Pro Max have the new triple 12 megapixel cameras. These cameras include the wide, ultrawide, and telephoto cameras. These new cameras allow iPhone users to take wider angled pictures. The budget option; the iPhone 11, only has a dual 12 megapixel camera with the wide and ultra wide cameras. Some other new additions to the iPhones include the addition of a new portrait lighting mode, deemed, “Slofies”, which are a slow mo selfie, and finally the new zoom options. Another huge addition to the new camera technology is video now shoots in 4K. This is a huge deal as this is very new technology and will attract many buyers. And finally, the front facing camera has gotten an upgrade.The upgrade is very noticeable and very nice. I definitely like this improvement as the iPhone’s front facing camera has always been something I thought needed to look neater. As for the slow mo front facing video, it is fairly nice although I believe it could be better.
Each year, cell phone users are eager to see what the new battery life of the phones are. This year’s battery life change isn’t dramatic; however, it did increase. The iPhone 11’s battery is 1 hour longer than the previous budget option. The iPhone 11 Pro’s battery lasts up to 4 hours longer than its previous model. And finally, the iPhone 11 Pro has the longest battery life in an iPhone. The iPhone 11 Pro’s battery lasts 5 hours longer than its previous model.
The iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max are now water resistant for 30 minutes up to 4 meters in depth. The iPhone 11 is water resistant for 30 minutes in a depth of up to 2 meters. The Pro and Pro Max a Super Retina XDR display, while the iPhone 11 has a Liquid Retina HD display. For non iPhone users, the retina display is a high resolution display made by Apple for their phones. All phones now have the new A13 bionic chip, which helps the phone run more efficiently and makes it faster than previous phones. The A13 bionic chip will also make sure FacedID runs smoothly. All phones have the FaceID like the previous iPhones and many other phones on the market now.
And finally, how does it look? With the iPhone 11, Apple released 6 colors, some pastel colors as well as the red color Apple releases with many of their iPhones. This is significantly more colors than most phones on the market. Apple also released another new color with the Pro options, midnight green. The iPhone 11 has a glass and aluminum design while the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max now have a textured matte glass and stainless steel design. The matte glass back is very different than the glass back on the previous phones. It also feels very different than the aluminum design on even older iPhone models. However, I like the matte back the best. It has a nice, sleek feel of glass without the chance of getting fingerprints all over the back of your phone.
