“I know what it feels like to have a rocket land 20 feet away from me and not detonate,” says Mr. Herring veteran and  Chemistry teacher. Mr. Herring gave an inspiring speech to the members of the assembly where he spoke about his wife, children, and his experiences and thoughts as a veteran. Herring was in the Airborne Infantry Unit in which he had to jump out of helicopters. He had joined a Black Hawk helicopter flight company as a Blackhawk Crew Chief. As of now, Herring is currently in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

The Veterans Assembly was sponsored by the Pine Grove VFW and the Pine Grove Legion and brave veterans, students, faculty and staff joined together to recognize and celebrate our veterans.

Mr. Gibson and the PGA band performed several songs for the veterans and their families. Diane Snyder from the Synder’s Funeral Home also received a certificate at the assembly.Veterans then performed the 21 gun-salute and taps in front of the school circle which involved 3 rifle shots. The JROTC students then retired the colors by removing the flags from the stage.
