Pine Grove Loses First Match to Pottsville

“The score wasn’t outstanding, but over all the kids fought hard and fought until the end which is all we ask for,” says Couch Newswanger. A total of 11 boys wrestled for Pine Grove. These boys were Travis Anderson, Nick Wolff, Billy Ulsh, Sammy Good, Christopher Charles, Gavin Harris, Caleb Reiter, Christopher Shadle, Drey Robinson, Kade Shneck and Ashton Rhode.

Travis Anderson wrestled first. After the first period, the score was five to zero with Anderson in the lead. His lead only grew from there. After the second period, he was in the lead with a score of ten zero and ended with a score of fifteen to zero. Nick Wolff wrestled next with a score of one to seven, Pottsville in the lead. Wolff was then pinned in the second period. Up next was Billy Ulsh, who was pinned in the first period. Next up, Sammy Good wrestling with a score deficit of zero to four in the first period. He was then pinned in the second period. At this point in the match, the total team score was five to eighteen with Pottsville in the lead. Christopher Charles was up next. He was losing one to four after the first period. After the second period, Charles was still losing with a score of three to ten and then he lost in the third period with a score of four to twelve. Up next was Gavin Harris, who pinned his opponent in thirty-nine seconds. Next up was Caleb Reiter. After the first period, the score was still zero to zero and they stayed neck and neck through their whole match. After the second period, the score was three to four with Pottsville in the lead, but Reiter got the win with a score of eight to seven. Christopher Shadle was up next. After the first period, he was winning with a score of five to zero. Shadle then pinned his opponent in the second period. Next up was Drey Robinson. Potsville was in the lead in the first period with a score of zero to four. Robinson was then pinned in the second period. Next up was Kade Shneck who was pinned in the first period. Last to wrestle was Ashton Rhode. At the end of the first period, the score was zero to two, but Rhode was later pinned in the second period. At the end of the match, Potsville won with an overall score of twenty to fifty-one. 

“It was a hard-fought match, and although we lost as a team, everyone went out there battling,” says Caleb Reiter.
