Student Council is always making new ideas for getting not only members active, but the whole school in different events. Last year, they decided to have a hallway-decorating contest. Each grade level was assigned a specific hallway, and were given a certain amount of time to decorate it. Student Council then decided that judges would declare the winner, who would then get treated with milk and cookies. This year Student Council proposed a door-decorating contest for each homeroom, which I prefer more due to the improved workload the new activity has.

There were a lot of problems with the hallway decorating event last year. One problem was some grades were not having enough help from their peers. So, to fix this problem this year, Student Council decided that they were going to switch things up and do a door decorating contest instead. I personally feel like this is a much better idea. This allows a much smaller workload for everyone while still being able to creatively expressing a Christmas theme on your homeroom’s door. Each homeroom will have the responsibility of decorating their classroom door to be judged later in the month.

This is a much better idea for numerous reasons. Since each homeroom will be in charge of decorating one door, it is much less work for everyone. Each homeroom teacher will have the help of their whole classroom to come up with ideas of how they want to decorate their door and then put it together. This will solve issues since teachers can now help much more this year and so much work is not forced upon a few students. Overall, I believe that the door decorating contest will be a much more exciting contest with much more participation than last year.
