Lady Cardinals Defeat Lady Indians

Mikaili Donmoyer, #5 point guard, says,“We really need to win this game because it will help bump us up in the seeding for districts. It can also just help out our record as a whole and give us confidence as a team.” The varsity game was off to a slow start and was scoreless for the first two and a half minutes until the Lady Indians finally broke the ice with a layup. Alli Butler would respond with a layup of her own. Bailley Dorson would follow up Butler with another layup for the Lady Cardinals. The Lady Indians would rally after this with a three pointer and a layup to gain back the lead. The Lady Cardinals would finish out the quarter strong with a Dorson free throw and a Butler three, making the score 8-7 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Lady Indians would take the lead right back with a mid range jump-shot. The Lady Cardinals would trade buckets with the Lady Indians and maintain the deficit. Donmoyer would make a free throw and she would be followed up on the next possession with a Butler three pointer. The Lady Indians would make a mid range jump-shot to bring the Lady Indians’ deficit to one point. The score going into the half was Lady Cardinals 14, Lady Indians 13.

Kailen Felty would start off the second half for the Lady Cardinals with a three pointer. The Lady Indians would make a layup to attempt to shorten the gap. Butler would make one of her two free throws and Donmoyer would follow that up with a mid range jump-shot. The Lady Indians would make yet another layup and the Lady Cardinals would respond with Dorson knocking down two free throws. The Lady Indians would shoot free throws and only make one of the two attempts. Butler would get another layup for the Lady Cardinals and the Lady Indians would go one of two from the line yet again. Felty would make another 3 for the Lady Cardinals and increase their lead. The Lady Indians would make a mid range jump-shot to cut into the Lady Cardinals lead. The Lady Cardinals would lead 27-21 at the end of the third quarter. 

The Lady Indians would get two quick buckets at the start of the fourth. Abbie Brown would go to the free throw line and make both free throws. Dorson would make a layup on the next Lady Cardinals possession. The Lady Indians would go to the line and make both free throws. Dorson would make two free throws and Donmoyer would follow with two free throws of her own. The Lady Indians would get a layup and get fouled on the next possession and make one free throw. Butler would follow by making one of two free throws and Donmoyer would make a three pointer to secure the win for the Lady Cardinals with a final score of 39-30.
