What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?

Ariana Dockey, Staffer

February 14th, famously known as Valentine’s Day, is a very special day for many people to celebrate love. The special day is meant to shower your “Valentine” with gifts. For most people, it means buying roses and chocolates, and maybe even an expensive present. Valentine’s day for those without a significant others though, is just a normal day. So, the Cardinal Chronicle has to ask, What does Valentine’s Day mean to you?

Valentine’s day can be a pretty sappy day for those without a significant other. Salena Lewis says that Valentine’s Day to her is, “…a day where couples are too lovey, and it’s not my favorite day.” She said she values her friends love and support, and that’s all she needs. She values every bit of friendship she has. For those without a significant other at Pine Grove Area, you can still celebrate the day with other loved ones, such as your mother, your siblings, or even your pet!

For those in relationships, the day can mean romantic dates and a shower of gifts. When asked about how she thought about Valentine’s day, Kayla Massey answered: “Couples can take the time to buy their significant other something cute; things like roses or chocolates, or just spend the day together and go on a fancy dinner date somewhere romantic.” Having a significant other can be challenging at time, but on Valentine’s Day, problems should be put aside to show their love for one another.
