“Grandparents Day is the best because you get to spend time with your grandchildren.Being a grandparent is the best job ever,” says Ann Kimmel, Class of 1974. ’ Koryn Kimmel and her cousins, Dawson and Colin Ibarra, were spending time with their grandparents, Ann and Dave Kimmel, and spent a few hours having a good breakfast during Student Council’s  Annual Grandparents Day Breakfast. The Kimmels and their grandchildren are part of the 90 people in attendance. As the family continues their meal they enjoy quality time together. “I see them everyday, but it is nice to see them during my school day. My grandparents mean a lot to me because they are always there for me whenever,” said Dawson.

“This is the first time that I have attended Grandparents Day Breakfast.   I asked my grandparents to attend because this is the last opportunity I have to experience this event with them.  They also like to be around other alumni, so it’s a win for all of us,” says senior Katelyn Rittenbaugh. Rittenbaugh’s  grandmother and grandfather Pete and Sharon Rittenbaugh, both 1974 alumni, and great-grandmother Nancy Bain, 1954 graduate of Tremont, shared in the meal with their granddaughter.    Sharon said, “It is truly a joy spending time with your grandchildren.”

According to Ms. Breiner, Student Council Adviser, “Hosting Grandparent’s Day is one of Student Council’s favorite events. Having grandparents share their stories and seeing new memories being created  shows just how important we value the connection between grandparents and grandchildren. We hope to continue the tradition and involve our community as much as we can to share these experiences.”
