The Pine Grove Area Cardinal Chronicle, commonly referred to as the PGACC, is the online student newspaper of the Pine Grove Area School District. The news site is operated by students and supervised by Mrs. Hatter and Mr. Dusko. Every week, each student in the Journalism class has to come up with an article idea. The students work with the teachers to gather information, pictures, and quotes. Once the student gathers everything, they write the article and put it in Trello, which helps the editors keep them organized. Then the editor checks the article for proper grammar and spelling, Mrs. Hatter gives it a lookover, makes any final changes, and it is published on the website.

The articles usually range from 3-6 paragraphs in length, and cover a wide variety of topics. From sports games, to school events, to news topics, the Cardinal Chronicle has it all. Not all articles are created equal, however, because some require more information that might take awhile, like meeting with other teachers or administration. Additionally, students might have to use their time outside of school, to attend a sports event or fundraiser.

PGACC is under the ‘Cardinal Media’ umbrella, along with WPGA and the Yearbook. Each branch covers a different thing. Cardinal Chronicle covers news, WPGA does the morning announcements, and the Yearbook Club creates and edits the yearbook for the High School. The Cardinal Chronicle was known as the “Pine Cone” in the 1950s and 1960s, and it was later advised as the Cardinal Chronicle in the early 2000s. PGACC became the Journalism class in 2012, and from there, it grew to what it is today.
