Every year students have to pick electives. These can help you with your future job and get you college credits. Here at Pine Grove Area High School, we have many different electives that students can take. There is Culinary, World War 2 Through Film, Business Management, and many more. One new course that is coming next school year is Media Literacy with Ms. Rogers. 

Media literacy combines music, english, and technology all together in one course. “We will be analyzing songs and their lyrics,’ says Ms. Rogers “We will then create our own music and lyrics to go with it.” The class will be looking into rhyming techniques, themes, and literary devices. Technology will be a key part of the class. “My inspiration for this course was from country music,” explains Rogers. It is something that I am passionate about and I figured since I’m an english teacher, why not incorporate the two into one class?” Every song is like a poem and they have a deeper meaning.” 

This course will be good for students who are interested in country music or students who enjoy music. Students should definitely consider taking this new and fun course in the upcoming year.
