Lady Cards Continue Win Streak

The Lady Cards went into the game undefeated, 10-0, looked to continue the win streak against Pottsville Crimson Tide. Olivia Lehman was the starting pitcher for the Lady Cards. The first batter for the Tide hit the ball right back to Lehman for the first out. The second batter grounded out to Kate Rittenbaugh at shortstop. Lehman walked the next batter to put a runner on first. The base runner steals second on a wild pitch by Lehman. Avery Nagle ended the inning with a catch in center field. As the Lady Cards begin to bat, Rittenbaugh starts with a triple hit into left field. Trisha Kopinetz followed with double to left field scoring Rittenbaugh. Amanda Schaeffer pinch ran for Kopinetz. Lehman followed with a single to left field, as Schaeffer scores. Izzy Turner pinch ran for Olivia. Megan Wolfe was walked. Nagle hit a fly out to center field for the first out. Maura Lehman grounded out to the pitcher for the second out. Kamryn Stine was then walked to load the bases. Casey Kershner ended the first inning with a fly out to center field. Lady Cards have the lead over the Tide, 2-0. To start the second inning, Olivia Lehman hit the first batter. The next batter grounded out to Lehman but the runner advanced to second. The followed batter also grounded out to Wolfe, as the runner advanced to third. The last batter hit a pop fly caught by Rittenbaugh at short.

To start off the Lady Cards at bat, Autumn Behrent has and infield hit to the shortstop. Behrent stole second. Rittenbaugh then grounded out to second but Behrent advanced to third base. Kopinetz hit a deep fly ball to center field and Behrent tug up and scored. Olivia Lehman ended the second inning grounding out to second. With a score of 3-0 at the end of the second inning, the Lady Cards still have the lead. The third inning for the Tide was started off with a pair of groundouts to Wolfe at second base for two outs. The third batter hit a single to left field. The fourth batter hit a fly ball to Wolfe to end the top of the third inning. Batter first for the Lady Cards in the third inning was Wolfe. Wolfe singles to second after an error. Nagle then hit a shallow fly ball into center field for a single, as Wolfe advances to second. Maura Lehman bunted for a hit, advancing all runners. Stine then singled to right field scoring Wolfe. Kershner hit a fly ball to center for an out but still scored Nagle. Behrent grounded out to third but Maura scored. Rittenbaugh ended the inning with a ground out to the shortstop. The Lady Cards leads the Tide 6-0 at the end of the third inning. The Tide started the inning off with a fly ball caught by Maura Lehman in left field. The next batter popped out to Rittenbaugh at shortstop. The Tide ended the inning with a groundout to Wolfe at second.

Trisha Kopinetz started off the bottom of the fourth inning with a line drive passed the first baseman for a single. Schaeffer pinch ran for Kopinetz. Schaeffer stole second base. Olivia Lehman hit a single to center field with Turner pinch running. Schaeffer advances to third on Lehman’s hit. Turner stole second during Wolfe’s at bat. Wolfe hit a single to right field, scoring Schaeffer and Turner. Nagle popped out to the pitcher. Maura Lehman then grounded out the the second baseman. Stine followed by grounded out to the second baseman. The end of the fourth, Lady Cards 8 Tide 0. As the Tide look to score runs, the first batter hit an infield single. The next two batters both grounded out to Wolfe at second. The fourth batter was walked by Olivia Lehman. The last batter hit a fly ball caught by Wolfe to end the top of the fifth inning. Kershner was the first batter for the Lady Cards. Kershner hit a fly ball caught by the left fielder. Katrina Heister pinch hit for Behrent and hit a line drive passed the pitcher for a single. Schaeffer pinch ran for Heister. Rittenbaugh hit a double to left field, scoring Schaeffer. The Tide decided to intentionally walk Kopinetz but Olivia Lehman hit a walk off single behind the shortstop to get the last run. “Having a walk off hit to help my team win the game feels amazing. I’m just glad my team could put me in the position to have this hit” said Olivia after driving in the game winning run. The Lady Cards beat the Tide 10-0 in five innings to continue their undefeated win streak to 11-0 on the season.  Maura Lehman commented as well with, “We played hard the whole game. We did what we had to get runs to win!”
