Wreaths Across America is a global organization that’s goal is to put wreaths on veterans’ graves. It ranges from students to adults and the focus is to honor the veterans and make sure they aren’t forgotten. When laying wreaths on the graves, everyone is asked to say the name of the veteran. The reasoning behind that is because people pass away two times. Once when they take their last breath and the second is when someone says their name for the last time.

Grant Culbert, senior, said, “Wreaths Across America means a lot to me. Knowing my pap was buried there as a veteran and getting the chance to lay a wreath and honor him is just special. And even just seeing people put wreaths on their relatives’ graves is just special. Most of the time we even go out and put them on strangers’ graves too. We don’t even have to know them but we know that they served this country and they should get recognition from us like we recognize our relatives.”

Laying wreaths may not seem like something that impactful but when you go see how it’s done and why it’s done it’s a special thing to be a part of. Giving people the chance to honor veterans and relatives after they’ve passed is a huge honor.
