Students celebrated Fastnacht Day on Tuesday across the District. The High School celebrated this holiday by giving out free doughnuts at lunch. Hunter Moyer, sophomore,  said, “I think the school should have doughnuts as an option everyday” There were two flavors available at lunch: powdered and sugar.

Beth Wagner, sophomore,  said, “It was really nice they give free doughnuts to kids that pack their lunch like me.” The school had General Tso’s chicken and rice with broccoli for lunch. Every student and teacher was given a free doughnut.

Fastnacht Day, sometimes called Fat Tuesday, is  the day before Chistian holy day Ash Wednesday. The word Fastnacht derived from  Pennsylvania Dutch “Fassenacht”,: translating into “fasting night”, which is a traditional German holiday called Shrove Tuesday.  The meaning of the holiday is to eat decadent food before Lenten fasting.
