On April 17, 2022 the Brooklyn Nets took on the Boston Celtics in Boston to open up the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This was a weird matchup due to the fact that Brooklyn had dealt with injuries throughout the year so their seeding was much lower than it would have been. Both of these teams were much too good to be meeting in the first round, which made for what should be an extremely exciting series between two great teams.

The first game of the series was decided in the finals seconds of the game, Brooklyn had the lead, but All-Star forward Jason Tatum finished a tough layup as the clock expired, winning the game for the Celtics. Despite the loss, the Nets still had a very good chance of winning the series with their two superstars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. However, as the series progressed, things would begin to look more and more bleak for the Nets.

Superstar caliber players are the people your team looks towards to become even better in the playoffs, and lift the team onto their backs. For the Nets however, the complete opposite occurred. Both Durant and Irving played way below their own skill levels, and were not contributing near as much to the offense as they should be, considering they’re some of the most skilled players in the history of the league. The Nets struggled to keep up with the Celtics and despite being a great team, found themselves losing the series in a 4-0 sweep.
