The “Fallout” series has been a mainstay for over 25 years. Over 11 million players have fallen deep into the Wasteland we know and love. The games over the years have been a great success, hitting high on the charts of players and playtime. Rated by players and staff everywhere, “Fallout: New Vegas”, “Fallout 3”, and “Fallout 4” being in the top 3 among all of their games dating back to 1997. Stories are very key in the “Fallout” series success which is why those 3 out of all 12 releases were rated to be some of the best, holding strong with good story, side quests, and a lot of replayability. Though after all those, one game surfaced from the series “Fallout 76”. The game struck lots of talk and controversy since release and it has been a huge topic of discussion throughout the community.

“Fallout 76”, released on November 14th, 2018, which had its announcement on May 10th, 2018 at an E3 event. The game was set to change the fallout experience that so many people were accustomed to. “Fallout 76”, unlike any other in the series, was going to be placed in a multiplayer setting rather than a solo player experience. This was big news for people all throughout the community and everyone was excited for the game’s release. The game was released and people were racing to play the new experience with friends which once they had to play by themselves. This change brought so much to the game that it hyped up the experience a little too high and this is where the problems started. The game was released way too early, like games in recent times like titles “Cyberpunk 2077”. There were so many problems on release that took too long to address as they had a big team working on this project. There are multiple videos and clips over all of the bugs and problems with the game. They finally addressed the problem with their game and story at the first major update called “The Wastelanders Update.” This sparked light in the game bringing back many people who were not happy with the launch of the game such as myself. They fixed many of the major issues which made the game either bland, boring, or just downright unplayable. The game has been updated multiple times since release and the game has sort of revived but will now always go down in history as one of the worst releases for a fallout game in.

In my opinion, the game is still very good. It is very well made and has a great story, gameplay and replayability. They were just too quick to release the game which almost was the entire downfall of their game. Other than that though the game is still going strong with that major mess up on their end. It is still such a blast to play with friends and a fun game to just hangout and play when you’re not looking for anything too competitive or more of a casual experience. If I had to rate the game I would give it a 6.5/10 I would recommend it to new players in the series.
