Tyrese Maxey has found himself in a different position than usual on the Sixers. The young star has been coming off the bench rather than starting like he usually would. Sixers fans were surprised at this change but after a few games they had come to believe in this decision.

Maxey had just come back from a month long injury when he found himself back where he started the season at. However, something wasn’t quite right. His stats weren’t not as good as they usually were. Fans were confused at what was going on. Many contribute his lackluster performances due to sharing the court with both Joel Embiid and James Harden. Maxey would not get the ball as much as he had when Embiid and Harden were out earlier in the season.

Then head coach, Doc Rivers. decided to make a change. Rather than him starting Maxey would be replaced with a more defensive minded player- De’Anthoy Melton. However, Doc mentioned that Maxey would still get around 30 minutes a game. This change proved to be a great idea for the Sixers and Maxey. The Sixers would have a great scorer when their second unit was on the court maintaining close to the same level of scoring as the starters. Maxey contributed a large portion of that. Maxey still sees some more time on the court especially in late and close games. Whenever Maxey would get the ball he would be able to knock down a three when needed. Maxey will do well as a sixth man for the Sixers.
