“A Man Called Otto” is a two hour and six minute movie that premiered January 13, 2023 and has grossed $83 million since its release. It stars Tom Hanks. The movie is based on the book, “A Man Called Ove” by Frederick Bachman.

“A Man Called Otto” follows Otto (Tom Hanks) and his life experiences. Otto has had a difficult life and lost a lot of people that he has cared about. This has turned Otto into a cold individual. This changes when he meets his neighbor Marisol (Mariana Treviño). Otto is then faced with a problem when a real estate company, Dye & Merika, attempts to kick senior citizens out of their homes. Otto uses his new friends to change this. Otto has now found a new appreciation for life and spends his time helping others.

I thought the movie was really powerful. Every character made a deep connection with the viewer. The movie had many comedic moments but also would hurt my heart at other parts of the movie. The movie tells a relatable story and teaches that everyone can change their life and perspective for the better. I would give the movie 4.8/5 stars.
