Nascar is the largest motor sport in the United States. Although, they have been losing viewers these past few years.

Nascar must shorten their races to grow. Nascar is the largest motor sport in the United States but they have been losing viewers each year. While Formula One in North America is growing year by year they had pack stands for both of their Grand Prix in the United States.

I think the reason Nascar is losing viewers each year has to come down to the races being too long. The average Nascar race is three hours long, which is too long for new viewers to watch the full race. Formula One races are almost never over two hours long so new viewers don’t get bored. If Nascar tries to cut the races down they would have more action in their races and more aggressive racing would be achieved because the drivers would need to make moves sooner and faster.

For Nascar’s crown jewel events they should keep the race length the same including the championship race. The big companies that sponsor nascar teams would like it more because there would be more eyes on the races. New teams would like shorter races because they would pay less and have more money to develop their team. If the smaller teams have more money and can be more competitive it would make the races more interesting with more competitive races.
