Kyrie Irving, point guard, was a part of the Brooklyn Nets before the NBA trade deadline which ended on Thursday, February, 9th at 3:00pm EST. Irving, who was a star for Brooklyn, got dealt off to the Dallas Mavericks on February 6th. The Dallas Mavericks who have received Irving had to give away a few players of their own, the players that the Nets had received were Spencer Dinwiddi, point guard, Dorian Finney-Smith, power forward also listed as a small forward, the Nets had also received a few draft picks. Irving is averaging 27.1 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 5.3 assists per game.

Irving is a great addition to this Dallas Mavericks team who is led by one of the top leading scorers in the league Luka Doncic. Doncic, Shooting Guard, is averaging 34.3 points per game, 8.9 assists per game, and 8.8 rebounds per game. This addition to the Dallas Mavericks is a great addition to the team. They added another player that can handle the ball when Doncic is off or is injured. Even if Doncic is in the game they both know how to pass and don’t always need the ball in their hands. When they both play together their stats may go down but, even if the stats go down the only thing that really matters is the wins. The Dallas Mavericks are fourth in the Western Conference standings and will only stay where they are at or proceed to go up.

The Dallas Mavericks are now going to be a contender to win the NBA finals. Now that Doncic has help on his team and they added a legit scorer he will not have to have the ball on his hands every possession. He will be able to play more minutes a game because he won’t be so tired running around the court with the ball in his hands. The Mavericks may now be the team to beat in the west; the only other team would be the Phoenix Suns who just added a star forward in Kevin Durant.Irving’s assists per game will now go up playing with Doncic and the same goes for Doncic.

The Mavericks already played a game with Irving and they looked scary. They beat the Los Angeles Clippers who are sixth in the western conference. They even played this game without Doncic but Irving showed out he had twenty-four points on very efficient shooting. The score of the game was 110-104 in favor of the Dallas Mavericks.

I really like the way that Doncic plays and when they add Irving who is one of the best finishers around the rim in the league they will be able to spread the floor better because they have another player that can drive to the rim and also shoot. This team is going to be very good and I expect them to go very far in the west. The Mavericks now have one of the best if not the best backcourt duo in the league. The only problem that the Mavericks will have are the forwards they are not the best but when they shoot that is all they need out of the forwards around the two stars Irving and Doncic. When Doncic returns from injury this is going to be the team to watch. This has got to be one of the best trades that has happened in this NBA trade deadline, one player that takes them to the next level and this is the trade that needed to happen for them to take it to this level. When Doncic and Irving play together I see the Mavericks putting up one hundred and thirty points a game.I am really going to enjoy watching these two stars play together with all of there crafty moves and I feel like they can become one of the best teams in the league and will be able to compete for awhile.
