Damian Lillard scored 71 points in the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Houston Rockets game. Lillard had 13 3-pointers in the victory over the Houston Rockets.

Damian Lillard had a career night Sunday as he racked up 71 points on 13 threes and was 100% from the free throw line. The Blazers played the Rockets and from the start Lillard was on fire. He ended the first half with 41 points and did not stop. By the time it was over Portland won 131-114 with most of the help coming from Lillard. According to ESPN he finished the game 22/38 on field goals and 13/22 on 3.

However, Lillard wasn’t the only player this year with a 71 point game. Cavaliers Guard Donovon Mitchell also had a 71 piece this year which is the first year to have two different players go for over 70 in a year. Wilt Chamberlain was the only player to have multiple goals for 70+ 5 different times during the 1961-62 season. Lillard also was close to breaking the record with most 3s in the game (held by Klay Thompson with 14) Lillard was close but couldn’t drain two more 3s to beat the record.

Lillard is having a standout year and he is trying to help the Blazers make a playoff run. So far Lillard has played well and it was looking like the Blazers could make the play-in tournament. Recently, the Blazers have seemed to fall behind and now it looks like they might not make it at all. Lillard has been with the blazers for his whole career but every year they seem to fall short of their goal. This might be the end for Lillard as a Blazer as he looks for another team who he can go deeper into the playoffs with.
