One of the most exciting things about sports is a new season starting. The new NFL season has just started and fans have gotten a taste of what teams look strong and what teams look like they’re going to get a very good draft pick this year. Opening day kickoff happened Thursday, September 7th, in a highly anticipated matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Super Bowl Champion- Kansas City Chiefs. The game started off slow with tons of dropped passes from the Chiefs’ receivers, resulting in the Lions upsetting them. The Lions are now beginning to look like a serious threat.
Much of the games were low scoring but still very exciting to watch. Rookie Quarterbacks C.J Stroud, Bryce Young, and Anthony Richardson got their first taste of NFL competition. C.J Stroud had a very tough week, resulting in the Texans losing 25-9 against the Ravens. Every other rookie quarterback lost this week, but there’s much hope for the rest of the season.
When asked about the rookie quarterbacks and finding no success, Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, said, “This week was just to get their feet wet. There’s more to come from them, they’re extremely skilled and Pittsburgh is ready to play.” After Jordan Love was promoted to starting QB after Aaron Rodgers left to the Jets, Love beat the Bears in dominant form 38-20 this week.
Also, Aaron Rodgers only played 75 seconds before he tore his achilles and lost his season. The final game of Week 1 was an extremely close game that resulted in a 22-16 win in overtime for the Jets after a game winning punt return.
