Lady Cards Push Past the Battlin’ Miners

“Everyone contributed, so that was nice.  We have a big bench so it was nice for everyone to get in especially for Homecoming,” stated Coach Wessner.  “We need to play better than we have been but we’ll take it one game at a time and hopefully finish strong.”

Lady Cardinal Volleyball has anticipated playing the Minersville girls for a while now, and have confidence on and off of the court that they can beat them pretty easily. Halfway through the season, the girls have won the majority of their games.

The Cardinals start out with a very promising lead in the first set with a quick lead of 19-8.   The Lady Miners attempt to come back at the first set; however, the Cards keep their momentum adding more points to the score.  McKenzy Frantz achieves the last point in the first set with a spike that the Miners could not return.

The Miners come out strong in the second set with the score being 2-3. The Cardinals quickly come back to take the lead at 8-6.  The Miners try to bring themselves back but that means they have to score on the strong Cardinals lineup. The Cardinals take the second set, ending it at 25-7. To give them their 2-0 lead was Abriana Chua with an ace off of her serve.

The Miners take the lead in the 3rd set, 0-1. The Cardinals bring the score to 5-3. Maura Lehman spikes the ball and scores for the Cardinals bringing the score to 6-4. The score stays close for the next few volleys. The Cardinals are trying to sweep the Miners in the 3rd set and make it a quick game. The Cardinals lost their last game and are trying to turn it around with a sweep against Minersville.  The Cardinals go up 13-8 and are closer to the win. Wessner puts some of the JV players in to give them some varsity experience and try to make them better. To give the cardinals their 3-0 win against the Minersville volleyball team they won 25-15 on Megan wolf with a spike to win it with a sweep.
