There is a new addition to the faculty at Pine Grove Area High School, Vicki Martinez has been hired as a special education teacher. Martinez joined the faculty as a substitute and is planning on getting her teaching degree while working here. She has recently enrolled in classes at DeSales University to receive her Master in Education. After she completes these classes, she will be able to achieve her teacher certificate.
Martinez is feeling nervous but very excited about her new opportunity here at Pine Grove. Martinez had always planned on becoming a teacher but never knew when she would receive the opportunity.
“I have known for several years that I wanted to teach, as a substitute or full-time, but this position was new to me,” says Martinez.
While she begins a new journey in her life, she hopes to have an impact on the kids that she helps. Martinez wants to be a positive influence for students as well as help them accomplish their goals. Her love for teaching all began when she started substituting for each building in the district.
“When I started substituting in this job, I was drawn to the students and the dynamics in this classroom. It just feels like this is where I’m supposed to be,” states Martinez.
Martinez chose to come teach at Pine Grove Area due to the fact that she is a resident of the town. She not only lives in Pine Grove but is also an alumna of the district.
