For the most part when people think of E-sports they believe there is nothing to be gained from it because there is not a physical aspect to it. The thing is they couldn’t be more wrong. An E-sports participant can learn teamwork, strategy, how to adapt, perseverance, and communication skills.
Without strategy your team has already lost before the game even started, you absolutely must have a strategy if you plan to be successful in E-sports. Adaptation – if you don’t adapt to the enemy team’s play style you have an extremely low chance of success. For example if the enemy team has been flanking you all game and winning because of it you absolutely must have someone cover your flank.
Perseverance – if you lose the first round it doesn’t mean the game is over, that is unless you already decide it is over. Lastly, you absolutely must have communication, to be successful in e-sports you must work with your team whether that be defending the same objective or having someone flank the enemies.
Take Valorant for example, Valorant is a 5v5 where you can win by either eliminating the enemy team, or the attacking team can plant the spike, if it detonates the attackers win the round but if the defending team defuses the spike they win the round. In Valorant, to be successful you must know the map, you must know all possible routes the enemy might take and specific landmarks so you can talk to your team about the enemies position. You also must know when and how to use your abilities, one perfectly used ability can win a team a round and one horribly used ability can be the difference between a round win or loss.
