After bringing back Fortnite OG and breaking records for most players on the game at one time, Fortnite OG has finally concluded and brought Chapter 5 Season 1. So far playing this season, I’ve had fun but there were slight changes to movement. Now when your character runs, there’s a different animation that makes it look slower than before, although Epic Games has confirmed it is the same speed as before. That is one of the only issues that the community mentions about. With the coming of Chapter 5 comes new game modes that are here to stay. One is LEGO Fortnite, which is a survival type game that is made fully out of Legos. This game mode has had more average players than Battle Royale itself, which is labeled as Fortnite’s main game mode. Ranked is also much harder to rank up. Last season, I was the highest rank, unreal, which was pretty simple to get. Now, I’m only platinum 1 and very far from unreal.
Another game mode added was Fortnite Festival. This game mode is very similar to “Guitar Hero” if it were to be in Fortnite. You’re on a stage trying to click the correct keys as they pass to get a better score. The new loot pool that was added was very good. The AR’s are very overpowered and have a very high fire rate while the smgs are no longer the “meta”. There are many tournaments this season as well. I tested out the difficulty and played the Solo Victory Cup. I earned 74 points in the first round to qualify for the second, then lost all 3 of my games. Tournaments are hard but if you learn how to play, you can earn money playing the game. They also added Rocket Racing. This is a ranked game mode where you can race on various tracks against other players. This game mode is inspired by “Rocket League” which is another game made by Epic Games. Overall, this season seems to be shaping out well, but we’ll see what updates throughout the season bring.
