There are many scary movies in the world about many different things, but have you ever heard of a horror movie about growing old? On July 19th, 2021, The movie “Old” was released.  A group of people go on a holiday vacation to get away from reality, but little do they know this will just get worse for them. 

This movie was based on the Swiss graphic novel “Sandcastle” by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederick Peeters. At the beginning of the movie you find a basic family consisting of a mom, dad, sister, and brother traveling to a paradise island. This island seems perfect to the family and the younger brother finds a friend as well. The resort manager later on tells this family about a secret private beach on the resort. They agree to go and find two other families trapped on this beach.

Eventually the aging begins to take place after they find the body of a woman in the water. Every hour everyone would begin to age two years older. None of these families could comprehend these events taking place at first. They try to escape this beach but they can’t. Throughout the rest of the movie it’s basically a fight to survive the odd events taking place. The message behind this movie is that we should savor life’s every minute.
