Avatar: The Way of Water

Fox Berkshire Theater, located in Wyomissing. 3 screens of Avatar Way of Water.

The movie “Avatar: The Way of Water” was released on December 16th, 2022. It was in production for about 15 years and was well worth the wait. The movie starts out with the lead character Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) in his new Avatar body that he converted to at the end of the first Avatar. He then narrates him being the leader of the people and raising a family. He has children with his “mate for life” Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña). He also adopts Grace Augustine’s (Kiri Sully) daughter, who no one knows who the father is.

Jake Sully raids a train which is owned and controlled by “the sky people” who are humans looking to take over Pandora for the rich resources. Jake’s son gets hurt in the process and is scolded by his father for not listening to him. While that’s playing out the lead villain, Colonel Quaritch (Stephen Lang). The Colonel was shot twice to death by bow and arrow by Neytiri in the first movie. Now he’s back and ready to take revenge.

The Colonel forces Jake and his family to give up his title and go on the run from the sky people. Jake saddles up his family and heads across the water to a new village where he is made fun of for being a forest avatar at a water avatar’s habitat. The sky people kill other avatars until Jake is found and gives himself up. Jake rides toward the ship where he is about to surrender just himself for his family and the village but the ship is attacked by a whale species. He takes advantage of the chaos and charges the ship and everyone else follows.

The movie was definitely worth the leg pain of a 3 hour movie. The movie was a big hit in the Box Office and people really enjoyed the movie. All in all I would rate this movie 4.7 out of 5 stars. The only part in the movie that made it that score was I wished it would be more colorful. Avatar 3 is set to come out in December 2024.
