As spring blooms into action, so does the Spring Fling dance. Hosted by the Pine Grove Area High School at the HH&L Fire Company on April 2nd from 6-8 p.m., the dance represents a lot more than just “spring.”

According to Miss Rogers, Student Council  co-advisor, “Usually PGA has a Sadie Hawkins Dance, but this year we decided to do something different and go with the Spring Fling theme instead.”

This Spring Fling theme is met with enthusiasm from students who plan on attending. Kaya Wagner, a junior who is attending, said, “With spring, everything is blooming again. I always look forward to spring.

The HH&L Fire Company was chosen as the location for the dance this year. In normal years, the high school gym was used for this dance. “We chose the HH&L Fire Company just for something different instead of the typical location of our school gym. We wanted to switch it up a little bit,” stated Miss Rogers.

This is not the only thing different from normal, however. The Spring Fling is meant for all grades, 9-12, to attend.“ I think it’s lovely that underclassmen have an opportunity to go to something like the Spring Fling,” Gabriella Kroh, freshman, said.

Many people see the Spring Fling dance as a return to the new “normal”. Bailey Dorson, senior in Student Council, states, “I think it shows that we are basically back to normal since covid, and it gives the kids an opportunity to make more memories with their friends.” This dance is a step forward in bringing back the old traditions so new classes can enjoy it.

Many things changed in the last few years, including: the number of people at a dance, whether it was indoors or outdoors, and the distance you had to be from someone. This dance being brought back proves the school is overcoming those challenges. As the day for the dance approaches, preparations are underway for the blooming of the Spring Fling.
