Starry vs. Sprite

Cameron Weiss, senior, pours the new Pepsi drink, Starry, into cups while Leighton Costabile, senior, pour cups of Sprite. Students were asked to compare the drinks to see if the new Starry drink is better then Sprite.

With the release of a new Pepsi drink dubbed Starry, many people are using it as a new competitor to Sprite. Starry is a lemon lime drink similar to that of Sprite and is supposedly meant to appeal to the younger generation-“Gen Z.” Despite similar taste, their appearance is even relatively the same. Seems like Sprite has a new competitor on the playing field.

When getting reviews on the comparison of the two, we were getting many mixed reviews. “I give it a 3/10,” says Kevin Krammes, freshman. “It’s too bland and not really fizzy,” Krammes continues regarding the taste of Starry.

“Sprite is a 9/10 because it has that nice fizziness to it,” Riley Suth, sophomore, described the Starry as, “not having enough flavor” and rated it a 5/10.

When I tried the new Starry Pepsi my immediate impression was the sourness of it. It had a slight sourness or even sweetness to it that differs from the Sprite. The Starry’s texture seemed a little flat compared to that of the Sprite though. Overall, I think that they are both great sodas, but when you want something a little more sour or sweet, the Starry Pepsi is the way to go.
