The Pine Grove Area Girls’ Soccer Team currently has a record of 9-0 (9 wins and 0 losses). The girls have completed half of their 2023 regular season and have already qualified for the District XI Tournament. They are first in their division, which if their standings stay the same, they’ll qualify for the Schuylkill County League Tournament.
Excited for the second half of the season with a realistic view, Rayna Zimmerman, senior, says, “I think we have a wide area to improve in, so I’m hoping when we play teams for a second time we know their tactics and we can exploit their weaknesses.”
The upcoming next two weeks are busy with many games. On Saturday, September 30th, Pine Grove plays Blue Mountain. Both teams are undefeated in their league, so it will be an exciting match-up!
Viktorya Luckenbach, junior, says, “I’m going into it [Blue Mountain game] with an open mind and as long as we do our thing and play our best I think we’ll be alright.”
The following week, the girls will play Minersville, Schuylkill Haven, and Wyomissing, and the week after they play Williams Valley, Pottsville and Nativity.
After these games, the team’s regular season will be over, and it will all be left to postseason skill. They already qualified for the District XI Tournament, but have yet to know if they made it to Schuylkill County Leagues and/or the State Tournament. The last time the Pine Grove Area Girls’ Team won Districts was 2016 with an undefeated record.
