Spring Training has started for the Philadelphia Phillies. The one issue I have with how the Phillies do spring training is they don’t get their starters in enough. The Phillies are 6-7 in spring training to me, record doesn’t matter because we don’t ever have our starters playing together. The Phillies always get out to a rough start and I feel it’s because they don’t play their starters enough. Like Kyle Schwarber he is off to a really bad start. He is a player that is very streaky where if he gets hot he won’t stop but when he is cold he can’t get any colder. The Phillies have to get him in the game and keep playing him until he gets hot. Right now he has twenty-one at bats and he only has two hits. Another player that needs to get started is Nick Castellanos who is only batting a .176 but he only has seventeen at bats.
In good news the Phillies had extended their star pitcher Zach Wheeler for another three years. In spring training the Phillies pitching hasn’t been looking the worst. I am really excited to see what they do with top prospect Mick Abel. For the usual starters Alec Bohm has been looking sharp in his at bats with a .333 batting average. J.T Realmuto is also batting a .333 which is very good but I’d like to see both of them get a few more at bats. Bryson Stott is batting around a .270 which isn’t terrible but I am very excited to see his progression since last year he had a really good year and ready to see how much he progressed. Bryce Harper has not had the greatest start batting a .231 but he has only had thirteen at bats. I want Rob Thompson to play his starters more for them to be able to work on their live at bats instead of just BP. I really want to see everyone off to a good start because our opening day series is against their rival the Atlanta Braves.
