The 2021 NBA All-Star game was on Sunday, March 7th. This year’s All-Star game was different from the previous ones. This year instead of All-Star Weekend, they shortened all of the events into one day. The format was the skills challenge starting at six. Then the three point contest followed that. Then after the three point contest the first half of the game was happening. At halftime of the game the dunk contest took place. Then finally they finished the rest of the game.

The first event, the skills challenge, had six participants: Robert Covington, Luka Doncic, Chris Paul, Julius Randle, Domantas Sabonis, and Nikola Vucevic. The skills challenge starts by dribbling through defenders,  then you have to pass the ball through a hole, then you have to make a layup then a three pointer. The competitors do head to head races against each other. Out of the six competitors Sabonis and Vucevic made it to the finals, but Sabonis beat Vucevic to take home the trophy.

The next event was the three point contest. The three point contest had six participants. They were Stephen Curry, Jalen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Zach LaVine, Mike Conley, and Donovan Mitchell. Curry dominated the first round of the contest scoring 31 points. The people that advanced were: Curry, Tatum, and Conley. Tatum started the second round With a disappointing 17 points. Conleys round was next and he put up 27. Then it was the favorite to win Stephen Curry’s round. It went down to the last shot where he made it and put up 28 points defeating Mike Conley.

The game was a very exciting game for most NBA fans because the players were using the game as a way to have fun with everyone else. They were shooting threes from behind halfcourt and throwing insane lobs. Team Lebron would defeat Team Durant 170-150. Giannis Antetokounmpo would be named the Kobe Bryant All-Star game MVP with 35 points while shooting a perfect 16-16 from the field. This would also make him the first player ever to make 100% of his shots while shooting a minimum of 10 shot attempts.
