“The Match With A Meaning game was important to me because I was lucky enough to be there for it.  Having gone through a heart attack, months of being in the hospital, and having a heart transplant, me and my family have firsthand experience on how delicate life can be and how fast it can change,” said Christian Frey, father of Tanae Frey, junior and volleyball player.  Mr. Frey had a heart attack and spent months in a hospital until he finally received his heart transplant.

Tanae Frey said, “The Match With a Meaning is important to my family because it shows how far we have gotten in 5 years. After his heart attack and heart transplant, he has had a miraculous recovery. I’m so thankful to have honored him at the match,” said Tanae.

Before the game began, Tanae gave a speech about how special it was to have the Pine Grove community there for the match.  A match where the Cardinals continued their hot hand in handing the Lehighton Indians a loss in just 3 sets.

Tanae saw a lot of time on the floor. She played the end of the 2nd set which she had the set winning kill, and played the majority of the 3rd.

The Cardinals went down early in the first set being behind by 8 at one point they rallied back and won 25-23. They continued on with that momentum into the 2nd set winning by 5 and into the third winning by 4.

Megan Wolfe, captain, said, “We went down early but we’re able to come back and we just rode out our momentum to the win.” Megan continued, “This was an important game to our team. Every game is important but we felt that we had to get this one for Tanae and her family and I’m glad we were able to do that.”
