The first round of the NBA playoffs are in full swing and here’s what is happening. The Philadelphia 76ers swept the nets 4-0 in a very one sided series. In all four games it seemed to be someone new that clutched up for the sixers. In Game one it was James Harden who hit seven threes in a 121-101 win. Game two it was Tyrese Maxey who had 33 points in a 96-84 win. Game three was Both Embiid and Maxey, Embiid had a clutch block on Cam Thomas in the final minute and Maxey scored 10 points in the final three minutes to edge Brooklyn out 102-97. Finally game four was Tobias Harris who had 25 points on over 50% shooting in a win without Joel Embiid finishing the series with a 96-88 win.

The next series that ended was the Timberwolves vs Nuggets game that ended with a 4-1 series win by the Nuggets. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were the main scorers for the Nuggets this series and immediately went up 3-0 before the T-Wolves pulled one back with Anthony Edwards making a game winner in a win or go home game four. But even after this, Ant and Karl-Anthony-Towns were not able to stop the one seeded Nuggets and lost game five 112-109.

The same night the Suns closed out the series against the Los Angeles Clippers 4-1 with a 136-130 win. Injury plagued the Clippers with Paul George being out with a knee injury he sustained at the end of the regular season. Then, Clippers star Kawhi Leonard was unavailable for games 3-5 with an apparent knee sprain. Leonard not being available was a huge loss for the Clippers as he put up 38 points in game one and 31 game two. This left Russel Westbrook to try and keep the series alive, however the combination of Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker proved to be too much and the Clippers fell after five games.

The next series that finished was the Knicks-Cavs series that ended up with the New York Knicks winning the series 4-1 after in the final game beating the Cavs 106-95. This game was a team effort with 6 players scoring over 10 points. Jalen Brunson was the leading scorer that game with 23 points shooting 8-22 from the field. This series proved to be a statement for the Knicks who had not won a playoff series since 2013 and came back in a big way beating the Cavs who were favored in this series.

Finally, the Miami Heat beat the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in their series. Miami completed an incredible series beating the One seeded Bucks as an eight seed. The last time an eight seed beat a one seed was in 2011 when the number 8 Grizzlies beat the 1 seeded Spurs. Leading the charge was Miami’s Jimmy Butler who in game four scored an incredible 56 points and became the leader for highest scoring playoff game for the Heat, surpassing such stars as Dewayne Wade and LeBron James. Butler was asked if there was really such a thing as “Playoff Jimmy” as this is not the first time he has come through for the Heat in the playoffs he said “It’s not a thing. It’s not. I just be hoopin.” Miami will go through and Face the New York Knicks in the second round while the Bucks will go home and try to figure out what went wrong.
